Cyril Gane defeated Alexander Volkov via unanimous decision
Cyril Gane:
We are comfortable with 25 minutes (…) I’m really happy with everything that’s happening at this moment. We did it twice. Two main events, two wins, I’m really happy.
For the main event, people want a show. Today I think I made a little bit more pressure. (…) We were really prepared for his performance. Volkov is a big guy, really tough, really heavy, taller than me, he has good kicks, good striking too. The fight was really balanced and I’m really happy about that.
I’m already confident and no, this doesn’t add any pressure. I’m undefeated in the UFC, but trust me, in my gym, I’m really not undefeated.
For me, now I’m looking for the belt. A match-up for the belt. 100% (…) If it happens, it will be a war like today for sure.
Tanner Boser defeated Ovince Saint Preux via second-round KO
Tanner Boser:
I feel great. I needed to win something fierce and I got a knockout. I’m stoked. (…) A win is a win, but a knockout, a stoppage, of course, it’s better than a decision win. I was in there to get the job done and I got it done well. That’s amazing.
I accepted this fight immediately. I was badgering them for a quick turnaround. I said, “I’m ready, I’m not hurt, I need to right this ship”. They called me one night, we’re fighting Saint Preux next Saturday and let’s do it. (…) I’m always in training camp, but I wasn’t able to train since last fight, because in Canada, there is a two-week quarantine when you re-enter the country. The day my quarantine was up, I flew back to Vegas.
My pressure was wearing on him. He got that one takedown, that was good, but I got up. He had used a lot of energy to take me down and when I got up, the guy is wilt. It’s how it works. You use a lot of energy and if you can’t capitalize on that, now it’s up to me to capitalize and get back to my feet and be the quicker guy. The pressure kept on him, he shot a more desperate takedown next time around. I shrugged it off, and then I knew he would do it again, because he didn’t want to be against the cage with me throwing strikes. When his head went down for the takedown, I landed the big knee and that led to the finish.
I asked for Big Ben [Rothwell]. He is a veteran, a guy I have a ton of respect for and I think that’s a good fight for both of us. It’d be sick. Hopefully it’s Ben, but if not, I’m willing to fight anybody. As for a timeline… I do need to train now after another two-week quarantine I’ll have. I’m looking more towards the early fall, mid fall, autumn or whatever. I’d like to get in two more fights this year if the stars align.
[What makes me dangerous is] My cardio. I can outlast almost anybody and my pressure and pace are too much for a lot of these guys. I have weaknesses too, it’s a give and take, but I know what they are and I deal with them. Moving forward, I’m going to be the same guy, but it’s up to everybody else to figure out what to do with that.
Timur Valiev defeated Raoni Barcelos via majority decision
Timur Valiev:
I feel happy. I expected a hard fight against this guy, 5-0 in the UFC, I knew he would cut my head off, but I was prepared. I trained hard, this probably was my best camp, and I think on my next fights, I’ll look even better. I’m starting to feel this cage, this atmosphere, being part of the UFC… I’m so happy.
I was happy with my performance anyway. Win, loss or draw, I knew I fought well. I made my coaches and family proud, that’s the most important part, but I thought that it would maybe be a draw or I would win. It’s the only results I’d accept.
I just said it in the cage. (…) I want the toughest guy in this division. Give me the toughest guy like stylistically, something. I’ll kill anybody on my way. I’m here to fight.
It would be good to fight against Trevin Jones after our first fight. I want my payback. We are highlanders, we are guys from mountains. This guy, Raoni Barcelos, he beat my friend Said Numargomedov and we always pay back. If Trevin fights me again – I know he will, I respect him – but if we fight again, I’m going to finish him
Andre Fili vs. Daniel Pineda resulted in a No Contest
Tim Means defeated Nicolas Dalby via unanimous decision
Tim Means:
With boxing, muay thai and everything involved, this is my 50th fight. It’s a cool milestone. Watching some of these younger dudes that are coming up on the show today, I realized that I’m 37, I’ve been doing this since I was 17, it’s flown by. It’s been a cool rollercoaster of emotions throughout the years. I’m proud to be standing here.
It’s easy to start getting in on those brawls. Especially in here today, it’s easy to hear the coach’s voice. I heard those guys in the corner and they know the thing to say to get me back on track. I was able to take a big shot on the third, get on autopilot and the wrestling took over, the clinch game and stuff… My coaches have done a great job. We’ve been through a lot together and I’m proud to still be standing here. Starting with them, finishing with them, it’s just a great ride.
I think I’ve grown by being a better athlete and a better teammate. I’ve grown by being a better coach in the gym and just better at listening overall (…) I know what it’s like to go through adversity. I know what is like to have to put your work boots on every day, get up, put the collared shirt on and go to work. I know what is like to have to dig down and pick yourself up when you hit rock bottom. I’m proud to pass this on to my teammates and my peers.
[What makes me dangerous is that] I’m not going to quit . As long as I have a chance, I can breath and I can throw punches, I’m going to be in your face fighting you. You might put me out on my shield, I might leave out my shield, but up to that point, you have a rough time in front of you.
Renato Moicano defeated Jai Herbert via second-round submission
Renato Moicano:
I felt like I had to go out strong and get a submission or a finish. That was what I trained to do and that’s what I did fortunately.
We specifically trained to take him down and take his back. I was planning to do this, but what I expected was to finish him in the first round. I watched all his fights and he always gave up his back. I think he knew what I was going to do so he kept avoiding giving me his back, but in the second round, I was going strong in the ground and pound, he gave me his back and I got the rear naked choke.
With the ground game, we just had seen what happened to the other Brazilian guy who fought before me. He was taking the guy’s back and rushing for a submission, but, for me, in the ground game, you have to be patient. It’s more about control. Control your opponent, don’t spend energy and go in at the right time. And that’s what I did. I’m really happy that I had patience in this fight.
I was just so happy he tapped. I don’t even know how to explain it, what it’s like to win a fight. To me, it’s the best feeling in the world and I’m going to be feeling like this one week from now. I’m really happy.
My next fight will be against a Top 15 for sure. I keep asking the UFC the best. I want the best names they can give me and that’s what I’m looking for. Guys like Islam Makhachev, [Gregor] Gillespie, all those guys. The best wrestler, the best striker… It’s even better for me. I want to fight the best.
