IN THE NEW NORMAL, HOME IS NO LONGER JUST A PLACE FOR RELAXATION

Google’s COVID-19 Community Mobility Report, which tracks the frequency of visits to, and length of stay in various places, reveals that the amount of time people are spending at home has increased since February last year. With stay-at-home orders in place in many countries, people are now using the home as an office, a restaurant, a gym, and much more. However, this “New Normal” can affect the air quality inside the home in an undesirable way.

For instance, cooking at home, which has become a part of most people’s daily routine since the pandemic began, can generate harmful air pollutants such as carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide. Home workouts, which have increased drastically with gyms closed, can release a high level of carbon dioxide.]

LG Electronics (LG) helps prevent such issues with HVAC solutions designed to tackle air quality issues brought about by our socially distanced lifestyles. For example, when equipped with LG’s Air Purification Kit, the LG DUAL Vane Cassette – an indoor 4-way ceiling cassette-type unit – ensures safe air with an extensive purification function. The kit effectively removes harmful bacteria and invisible ultrafine dust, and the filter can be easily detached and cleaned with water for efficient and cost-effective semi-permanent usage.

In addition to better indoor air quality, LG offers consumers streamlined control with LG ThinQ. Thanks to the LG ThinQ mobile app, users can control and monitor their LG solution from inside or outside the home, and check air quality status in real-time. A small LED display located on the indoor unit, which uses different colors to indicate the level of indoor particulate matter, provides another fast and convenient way for users to view air quality status.

HVAC providers need to take into consideration how the new home-centric lifestyle is impacting air in the indoor spaces where so many people now live, work, and play. Carefully-designed HVAC solutions, like those from LG, can contribute to making life at home more enjoyable and, importantly, healthier as well.
