Every year, Dyson launches a special edition range for the gifting season. The research and development of these colours and finishes mirror the intricate engineering and testing processes that shape all Dyson products.
For 2024, as Dyson announces their research expansion into ingredient science with the launch of their first formulations, the team visited the Dyson Farming sites nestled deep in the British countryside to explore the pigments of the high- quality, nutritious ingredients that are grown there, and the Dyson Strawberry stood out.
Available to purchase across the UK, an astonishing 1,225,000 strawberry plants are produced by Dyson each year. These are grown through all seasons, thanks to a 15-acre glasshouse facility, heated by an innovative circular process which involves the transformation of crop waste to energy, by an anaerobic digester.
The strawberries are hand- picked by robots, which analyse the fruit’s quality and ripeness to ensure the produce consumers buy is of optimal nutritional value, texture and taste.
Exploratory work commenced as the team investigated how the natural dye from strawberries interacts with various materials, allowing the discovery of an array of different shades and tone.
The final chosen pigment was the result of this exploration. From a single strawberry came a magnitude of hues, all brought together to create a complex shade of pink, tinged with hints of red, peach and orange – creating a unique and striking finish.
Taking further inspiration from nature, the hints of blue which shade the buttons are a nod toward uncut sapphires, giving contrast to the pink and highlighting these key parts of the technology.

“From our research into the science of hair, we’ve discovered a connection between hair quality and extreme heat exposure, particularly to the scalp. The scalp tissue consists of various layers, the outermost of which serves as a barrier against external stressors. However, when the scalp is damaged, moisture loss can occur.
