AWARD-WINNING DUBAI-BASED ARTIST LEILA PAZOOKI CLOSES ART DUBAI WITH AN INSPIRING MESSAGE ON EQUALITY AND FEMALE EMPOWERMENT

“This work is inspired by the activists, strong women and girls around the world who have spent generations working towards equal rights, and the simple understanding that women’s rights are human rights.” said Leila Pazooki, Female Middle Eastern Visual Artist and Featured Artist at Leila Heller Gallery in Dubai.

Leila Pazooki’s latest artwork ‘Reflection of our Rights’ at Art Dubai 2021, is a ravishing and literally glowing art piece of the Dubai-based artist. The art piece is an inverted rainbow neon light installation with Arabic text which means to bring HOPE AND EQUALITY. The rainbow is a symbol of hope for all gender and an ultimate allegory for justice.

The feminist Pazooki is one of the region’s most talented female artists with great creative personality, ahead of her time in several respects, with inspirational messages of women empowerment, racial equality and hope to humanity that halo her importance in the regional and international art scene.

Speaking about how pandemic showed the real status of racial injustices, women’s rights and economic inequality, she commented, “The pandemic has lifted the veil on the facade of equal rights for women and girls that many first world countries display. Throughout the past years, we have seen this to be a big lie, a beautiful facade made of inflammable materials.”

“I asked myself, why in a state of urgency has the issue of race, gender, and class discrimination become so visible, as was never truly fixed?” she added.

All proceeds of sold art pieces of Leila Pazooki will be directly donated to Dubai-operated Behnoode Foundation owned and managed by Dubai designer, art curator and entrepreneur Behnood Javaherpour. “I am extremely proud to be part of this historic event, as we re-open our doors to opportunities, it will give more chances to people who are in need to get help and support from us. THe Behnoode Foundation aims to help children in Nepal and Kashan who are out of school youth and by the end of this year, we plan to build an academy and art museum for young and talented individuals who would like to pursue a career in the field of arts and crafts.” said Behnood.
