TV presenter Coni Fueyo joins Extreme E as St. Helena Explorer

Extreme E, the all-electric off-road motorsport series, has appointed a new St. Helena Explorer for Season 3, in a role dubbed ‘Greatest Job in the World’.

Television presenter, Coni Fueyo, will document life on board the St. Helena, the ship that the series uses to travel between races. Living aboard the championship’s floating centrepiece, Fueyo’s arrival is part of Extreme E’s commitment to promoting sustainability and raising awareness of the impact of climate change on our planet.

Chilean born Fueyo will spend a year on board the St. Helena ship and document life on board across Extreme E’s channels. The role is crucial in highlighting the challenges faced by the pioneering motorsport series in its mission to race in some of the globe’s most remote and challenging locations.

Describing herself as a passionate TV presenter and environmentalist, Coni is also a successful producer, content creator and major events host. After studying Journalism at Chile’s Diego Portales University, she has since lived and worked all around the world. She spent two years working as an on-site correspondent and podium presenter for Extreme E’s sister championship, Formula E. She also co-hosts and produces her own travel and lifestyle podcast, El Amor de mi Visa, which is regularly ranked in the Chilean top five.

On being given the news that she had been chosen for the role of Extreme E’s St. Helena Explorer, Coni said: “I am beyond excited to have been chosen for this incredible opportunity with Extreme E. It’s a dream come true to be able to combine my love of travel, adventure, the environmental and motorsport in such a unique and impactful way.

“I’m looking forward to the challenges that come with spending a year on board the St. Helena, and to capturing the highs and lows of life on the waves with Extreme E. It’s going to be an amazing journey, and I’m so excited to share it with the world.”

Ali Russell, Chief Marketing Officer at Extreme E, said: “We are delighted to welcome Coni to the Extreme E team. This role of St. Helena Explorer is vital in showcasing the unique challenges we face in bringing our sport for purpose racing series to some of the most remote and environmentally sensitive locations on the planet.

“As we continue to work towards promoting sustainability and raising awareness of the impact of climate change on our planet, Coni will play a key role in documenting our journey and engaging with our fans around the world.”

The role will be responsible for documenting life on board the St. Helena, the ship that transports Extreme E’s race cars and all the associated collateral to the nearest post to each of its remote race locations. The ship is a former Royal Mail cargo vessel and has been converted into a cutting-edge research and exploration vessel, complete with a science laboratory, and a permanent crew of 50 people.

In addition to documenting life on board the ship, Coni will also be responsible for helping to raise awareness of the impacts of climate change on the ocean and marine life. She will work closely with the scientific team to gather data and insights that will help to inform Extreme E’s sustainability strategy.

As part of the ship’s global voyage this year, the St. Helena will venture on a European leg following the season opener, with races which will take place in Scotland, in the searing island heat of Sardinia, followed by a trip across the Atlantic to either the USA or Brazil, and a conclusion in Chile’s Atacama Desert – known for being one of the driest places on the planet.
