On Friday 3rd March, Nofa Golf Resort hosted the second edition of the ‘KSA Open de France’. The tournament had a handicap level of 36 and was comprised of 24 teams. Only five Saudi women were competing in the tournament, which makes it even more special that this year’s winner was Hind Al-Mubaraki a Saudi female and member of Golf Saudi’s Ladies First Club.
“I can’t quite believe that I managed to win the KSA Open de France in only its second year,” said Hind Al-Mubaraki, Ladies First Club Member and tournament winner. “The Ladies First Club was a fantastic way for me to try out the game of golf and ass time has gone on I’ve become more and more confident to compete in similar tournaments. Golf is a wonderful sport for Saudi women and I encourage as many women as possible to try it out and enjoy a social day with their friends on the golf course.
“I am grateful to have had the chance to become a member of the Ladies First Club. I love competing in local tournaments and although it can be a little daunting at first, with each one your confidence grows and grows. This win is something that I’m sure I’ll never forget.”
The Ladies First Club was first announced in November 2020 during the inaugural Aramco Saudi Ladies International, the first major professional sporting event for women-only to take place in Saudi Arabia.
More than 1,000 women registered their intent to learn golf within the first few days of the initial announcement, and the graduates who took part in this year’s pro-am have been those most gripped by the golf bug since then.
Over the past two and a half years, numerous women have been coached at Nofa Golf Resort, Riyadh Golf Club, Dirab Golf and Country Club as well as Royal Greens Golf and Country Club, in King Abdullah Economic City, Jeddah. Showing them the ropes have been a group of Golf Saudi coaches, who are just as delighted as the members themselves at the ladies’ development.
