Genesys Andretti United Extreme E and NEOM McLaren Extreme E secure their spots in the Final

With the championship title on the line, Laia Sanz’s quick reaction time saw ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team surge to the front of the pack from the start, but Genesys Andretti United Extreme E’s Catie Munnings kept up the fight, pulling up alongside Sanz.

The exciting side-by-side racing ended with Munnings taking a wider line, and carrying enough speed to secure the lead for Genesys Andretti United Extreme E. Emma Gilmour spotted her chance, and managed to get round Sanz as the Spaniard fought to recover from her duel with Munnings.

Fighting hard to secure a spot in the Final, Sanz closed in on Gilmour, attempting to cut through on the inside of the NEOM McLaren Extreme E driver. Pushing hard, Sanz’s move ended up in a roll, but the momentum ensured that the ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team car landed upright, allowing the battle to continue.

The incident left the team with a lot to do, as Carlos Sainz. Snr chased down Genesys Andretti United Extreme E’s Timmy Hansen and NEOM McLaren Extreme E’s Tanner Foust in first and second, respectively. The task proved too great, and ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team crossed the line third, missing out on five Finals from five and a chance at fighting for the championship title.

With both No.99 HUMMER EV Chip Ganassi Racing and ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team out of contention for the championship, it was all to fight for between Rosberg X Racing and X44 Vida Carbon Racing in the Crazy Race.
