Friday marks the start of a three-day, 70s-themed, motorsport extravaganza at the Dubai Autodrome, as the Gulf Historic Dubai GP Revival begins.
The three-day event will feature a plethora of iconic stars and cars. These include three-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner and 2012 FIA World Endurance Drivers’ Champion, André Lotterer, who will be taking the wheel of the Porsche RS Spyder.
Nicolas Prost, former Formula E race winner and World Endurance Championship racer, will be competing in the Benetton B196. Sophia Flörsch, currently competing in the European Le Mans series, will be on track in the Brabham BT608B.
Three-time Formula One race winner, Thierry Boutsen, will be driving the Arrows A3 over the weekend. Fellow former Ligier Formula One driver, Stefan Johansson will also be competing in the Toyota 86C.
After taking the top step of the podium at last year’s Gulf Historic Dubai GP Revival, Oliver Webb will be aiming to retain his title. Webb will once again be behind the wheel of an iconic British racing machine, James Hunt’s first Grand Prix winning car, the Hesketh 308b.
Also taking to the track will be legendary Formula One cars, such as the Williams FW07, Alain Prost’s Ferrari 643 and Michael Schumacher’s Benetton B192, in addition to one of the most recognisable Le Mans winners, the stunning Porsche 962.
In between this scintillating racing action, fans can wind down in the paddock, which hosts exquisite cuisine, alongside live entertainment and music fitting the 70s theme of the event. Visitors are encouraged to dress in the fashion of the era.
The Apex Garden will offer fans an opportunity to sit back, relax and watch all the on-track action on a live-streaming cinema, while younger fans can explore the kids’ play area.
A classic car show will feature some of the rarest and most beautiful cars from the United Arab Emirates’ most dedicated car collectors, providing plenty of opportunity for fans to enjoy some of the world’s finest road cars.
