On 20 December, Velaa Private Island Maldives will be celebrating its ninth anniversary with an evening to remember. The beyond luxury island resort is inviting guests for an extravagant celebration with an exquisitely prepared dinner. Usually held on its sandy shores, this year the milestone will be held on the tennis court, transforming the grassy surface into a culinary festival.
Internationally acclaimed French group, Charly’s Angels, will be returning to the Maldivian paradise for a live performance of their amazing range of songs and sensational stage presence. Created by Charles Abelan – a talented French pianist who has accompanied music legends including Prince, Barry White and Serge Gainsbourg – the group was born at the dawn of the 2000s. A feast for the senses, guests will dance the night away on the shores of this tropical paradise.
To mark the momentous occasion, the resort will also open a host of beautiful new facilities including a restaurant specifically catered to wellness with a healthy and mindful menu. A dedicated yoga and pilates pavilion will also open its doors, with reformer beds and specialised equipment on hand for sculpting and toning.
Another opening is the island’s newest beach bar inspired by street artist pop-ups, which is the result of the owners daughter’s longtime dream of having an ice cream truck on the island. In between water sport sessions, guests can enjoy a refreshing mocktail under the palm trees, where they can sit on the beach with their toes in the sand and feel the breeze from the ocean.
“Looking at the last nine years, there are so many milestones to celebrate. From Aragu becoming the first restaurant in the Maldives to break into Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Top 100 last year to George Bizet’s opera, Carmen, taking centre stage on the island with international artists. Here’s to the next nine years,” said Wayne Milgate, General Manager of Velaa Private Island Maldives.
