Jazan University, represented by the English Language Institute, has signed a cooperation agreement with the British Council in the presence of the University’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Hassan bin Abdullah Ishaq.
The Dean of the English Language Institute, Dr. Sami Hamdi, explained that the agreement includes a professional development programme for faculty members at the institute to train them on strategies for teaching English and help qualify students to take the IELTS tests.
He added that this agreement was possible due to the efforts and support of His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Mar’ei bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, and targets the University’s employees, including students and faculty members, and allows them to test at the IELTS centre and obtain recognised certificates.
He stressed that this initiative is an effort towards meeting the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which would help to provide male and female students with the knowledge and skills necessary for future jobs and improving the communication skills of students and University employees in as mastery over the language is an integral part of the twenty-first century. The Institute has been keen to provide distinguished educational services in teaching English.
He pointed out that this agreement with the British Council is to accredit the English Language Institute as an authorised centre for the IELTS exam, which is a step forward, in educational services at the institute, which would also contribute towards enhancing the language skills of the University’s employees.
