With outdoor weather now here, Meliá Desert Palm Member of Meliá Collection has unveiled a new Saturday brunch at RARE, the resort’s wood fire grill restaurant. Taking inspiration from Argentine traditions of grilled dishes, outdoor dining and their passion for the sport of polo, the RARE BBQ Brunch extends over the restaurant’s expansive terrace overlooking the primary polo field from 2 pm to 5 pm.
With a wide choice of delicious salads, grilled meats, fish and vegetables, all being cooked on the famed Asado grill, and a delectable dessert selection to complete the meal.
On arrival, guests will be welcomed with a mimosa to kick start this classy afternoon agenda before being shown to their table, where a selection of home-baked bread, branded beef and chicken empanadas and an Argentine fondue, with warm, melted cheese to drizzle over the bread.
The true BBQ experience is on the terrace, where an Asador grill is hung with whole chickens, handmade turkey sausages, bell peppers, whole onions and the piece de resistance, pineapples. The fragrance from the grill, fired by fresh wood, sails across the terrace enticing diners to fill their plates.
Guests will be happy to tuck into the broad selection of seasonal salads; ranging from the sweet and buttery blend of pear with avocado to the sweet/savoury combination of fresh fig with green beans. Refreshing watermelon and creamy feta, caprese featuring bocconcini and the sweetest of cherry tomatoes slathered in pesto or a crunchy Caesar salad, as well as a host of other choices.
When it comes to main courses, the focus is on quality over quantity, with choice cuts of meat and fish expertly grilled over the Asado, and served with either chimichurri or gravy, or both depending on the guest’s preference. Grilled vegetables are also available; however, guests may want to tuck into more of the salads.
The items from the outdoor Asador grill will be delivered to the table, so guests can relax, as Chef Franco will decide when those are ready.
The RARE BBQ Brunch wouldn’t be complete without a range of delicious desserts, with one of the highlights being the grilled pineapple fresh off the Asado, with its sweet and smoky flavour, it’s a unique experience. Potted desserts from Tiramisu, chocolate mousse, crème caramel or pannacotta to delightful bite-sized cakes, and whole pecan pies or platters of fresh fruit.
Once the dining experience is done, guests can continue their afternoon, taking in the beats of DJ Tim, while enjoying the live polo that takes to the field. Happy hour starts at Red Bar from 5 pm and resident musician Dan Moores takes over with live entertainment as the drinks flow through to 8 pm as the sun sets on the day and the stars put in an appearance.
The RARE BBQ Brunch is available with bubbles for AED 430, house beverages for AED 380, soft drinks package for AED 280 and little ones at AED125.
