WESTERN DIGITAL’S NEWLY LAUNCHED HIGH CAPACITY CMR 22TB DATA STORAGE SOLUTIONS FOR ENTERPRISE, SMART VIDEO, NETWORK ATTACHED STORAGE (NAS) AND IT/DATA CENTER CHANNEL SEGMENTS NOW AVAILABLE IN SAUDI ARABIA

WESTERN DIGITAL’S NEWLY LAUNCHED HIGH CAPACITY CMR 22TB DATA STORAGE SOLUTIONS FOR ENTERPRISE, SMART VIDEO, NETWORK ATTACHED STORAGE (NAS) AND IT/DATA CENTER CHANNEL SEGMENTS NOW AVAILABLE IN SAUDI ARABIA

Saudi Arabia customers are now able to experience the advanced, innovative features of Western Digital’s new 22TB range of hard-disk drives (HDDs), including new industry-leading Ultrastar DC HC570 22TB CMR HDD1. Leveraging its unique OptiNAND™, energy-assisted PMR (ePMR), ArmorCache™ and HelioSeal® technologies, the company further expands its technology and areal density leadership, while delivering enhanced value by driving a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) for cloud service providers and enterprise customers.

Western Digital WD Gold is the preferred choice for IT/data center channel customers. Also now available are the 22TB WD Red Pro HDDs, which are tailored toward the needs of network attached storage (NAS) and 22TB WD Purple Pro designed and optimized for smart video/surveillance.

Ensuring and maintaining high level of personal and business safety and security is more important now than ever. As experts from around the world prepare to attend Intersec Saudi Arabia from September 13 to 15 in Riyadh, Western Digital will have a range of innovative storage devices on display that highlight the latest in data storage innovations, capacity and smart video storage technologies.

The new 22TB CMR drive architecture features OptiNAND technology, which breaks traditional boundaries of storage by optimizing and integrating HDDs with iNAND® embedded flash drives. Western Digital extends capacity gains on proven ePMR technology and leverages industry-first technologies to deliver areal-density leadership on a mature 2.2TB/platter with ten disks.

One of the new technology innovations is ArmorCache, a feature uniquely enabled by OptiNAND that combines the performance of write cache enabled (WCE) mode and the data protection of write cache disabled (WCD) mode, offering the best of both scenarios without compromise. When operating in WCE mode, ArmorCache ensures that the DRAM cache will be safely written in event of an emergency power off (EPO) and no data is lost. When operating in WCD mode, the drive will ensure that all user data in DRAM is safely written upon EPO, and the drive will operate with WCE-equivalent performance. Performance and data protection are now identical across both WCE and WCD modes.

Khwaja Saifuddin – Senior Sales Director, Middle East at Western Digital, said: “At Western Digital we are constantly working to help address the capacity and analytical needs of the industry, as well as support the evolving economics of data centers, NAS and smart video customers for decades to come. There is more data produced and used today than ever before. Our newly introduced 22TB drives will help our customers to efficiently store and access huge volumes of data while offering cost efficiencies and low TCO at scale and Intersec Saudi Arabia is the ideal place to showcase the amazing features of the world’s first 22TB CMR HDDs, which our now available in Saudi Arabia.”

This year the conference is running under the theme of “Securing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” and Western Digital has the data storage solutions ideal to support that aim. Western Digital is the world’s first provider to ship new 22TB CMR HDDs, which have been specifically designed to cater to the needs of three key target segments.
