MOKE International partnered with Canada SailGP, supporting the leading team in the French round of the prestigious Sail Grand Prix. The Canada SailGP F50 catamaran was branded with the iconic MOKE logo and the team experienced the exciting all-new Electric MOKE at an exclusive pre-race event.
The France Sail Grand Prix took place on 11-12 September in Saint-Tropez, MOKE International’s spiritual home where it recently opened its new flagship store, Casa MOKE. Canada SailGP shares MOKE International’s passion for keeping the world’s oceans clean – the team recently joined forces with Ocean Wise, a non-profit organisation with a mission to empower communities and individuals to take action to protect and restore the world’s seas. MOKE International recently partnered with the Blue Marine Foundation, which is dedicated to restoring oceans to health.
Isobel Dando, CEO of MOKE International said: “We are delighted to be able to support the Canada SailGP Team. Their commitment to sustainability is synonymous with our own as we strive toward a cleaner future. We are advocates for conservation of the world’s ocean. With The Blue Marine Foundation as our official partner for conservation work and with Casa MOKE on the doorstep, it made complete sense to partner with the Team.
“The Electric MOKE is really popular in Saint-Tropez and we were incredibly proud to be able to use it to transport the Team and showcase it in all its glory!”
Casa MOKE was the venue for the exclusive reception for Canada SailGP athletes on Thursday September 8th, before moving onto an event at a private residence that was attended by 90 people. VIP guests were chauffeured from Casa MOKE to the event in a Canada SailGP branded Electric MOKE.
The original Mini Moke first appeared in 1964 and was embraced by celebrities such as Brigitte Bardot and The Beach Boys; driven in glamourous and exclusive locations including the French Riviera. It’s for this reason that St Tropez quickly became its spiritual home and makes the supporting of the France Sail Grand Prix such a good fit. The new Electric MOKE is an emissions-free reinvigoration of the Mini Moke, which not only ensures generations to come will be able to enjoy the same driving enjoyment that made it such a hit with celebrities, travellers, and coastal resorts six decades ago, but will also play a part in keeping some of the world’s most beautiful locations clean.
The Canada SailGP team was founded by Fred Pye, who is committed to increasing the popularity of sailing in Canada and to establishing pathways for athletes in the sport. Pye, a lifelong sailor and tech entrepreneur, has made it his mission to write Canada SailGP Team’s success story to encourage take up of the sport in Canada.
As a Canadian listed Company, MOKE International’s parent company EV Technology Group, saw the opportunity to support the Canada SailGP Team as they have a large following in Canada, and the event is regarded as one of the most globally recognized events in Saint-Tropez.
Wouter Witvoet, CEO and Founder of EV Technology Group said: “SailGP is like the Formula One of sailing. We were in a really great position to align for the event and pleased to be able to support the Team. The Canada SailGP Team is focused on inspiring people to love sailing, and we felt this was very similar to our ethos of encouraging people to fall back in love with motoring, through driving iconic EV’s.”
Fred Pye, Founder of Canada SailGP said: “Saint-Tropez was the perfect place to partner with MOKE International and EV Technology Group, on the occasion of the Range Rover France Sail Grand Prix. The Canada SailGP Team, MOKE and EV Technology Group share a vision for a future powered by clean energy and what better place than Saint-Tropez to cruise in Electric MOKEs and make the first of many great memories together. We are optimistic that we will continue to collaborate as the season continues.”
