Gamers8, the biggest esports and gaming event worldwide, helped OSN+, the region’s leading streaming service for premium entertainment, celebrate the release of House of the Dragon, the Game of Thrones prequel, with a spectacular drone show at Boulevard Riyadh City.
Ahead of the highly anticipated release of House of the Dragon on August 22 in the Middle East, a 1,000-drone light show above Boulevard Riyadh City on Thursday was preceded by a complete screen takeover and firework display. The trailer for House of the Dragon was also shown on the big screens during the sold-out concerts held at NXT LVL at Gamers8 on the same night.
Organized by the Saudi Esports Federation, Gamers8 runs daily until September 8 with a series of elite esports tournaments, big-name concerts, festivals, shows, community gaming, and fun-filled activities for all ages.
Omar Batterjee, Head of Communications, Marketing and Partnerships at the Saudi Esports Federation, said:“Gamers8 has a mission to blur the lines between what’s physical and what’s virtual, and the engaging and immersive platform to celebrate the release of House of the Dragon is another prime example of that in action. Captivating audiences across Saudi Arabia and beyond has been a staple of the Saudi Esports Federation offering, and we were delighted to partner with OSN in showcasing the Kingdom’s abundant innovation in the field of entertainment.”
The 10-episode House of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood and set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. With a story set around House Targaryen, the prequel will air in the Middle East on Monday simultaneously with the US premiere, with new episodes dropping weekly on the OSN+ platform.
