A.K.A. MEDIA MARKS CONTINUING SUCCESS AFTER BEING SHORTLISTED IN THREE DIGITAL STUDIO AWARDS 2021

a.k.a. Media, one of Dubai’s most well-established and renowned full-service agencies, is celebrating a very successful 2020 despite the pandemic. And the growing agency’s results are now being noticed by industry peers, after being shortlisted in THREE categories in the annual Digital Studio Middle East Awards 2021.

Already scoring highly among the esteemed panel of judges, a.k.a. Media’s work stood out among 150 entries from more than 50 companies in the 17th Digital Studio Awards.

The categories the company is celebrating being shortlisted for are:

Original Production of the Year, for the short film ‘Pause’, completed to explore hope at the beginning of the pandemic.

Crew of The Year, for its piece launching MG’s new SUV range, which put the company’s teamwork ethos to the fore, being filmed in just one gruelling 17-hour day.

Best Content Capture, also for a.k.a’s creative tour de force for the MG vehicle launch.

a.k.a Media founder, award-winning producer, visual effects artist and art director, Yasser Obeid, says: “It’s absolutely fantastic news to be shortlisted in these industry-shaping awards. We not only survived, but thrived last year, and that’s testament to the hard work and dedication of the a.k.a. Media team.

“Our team – and cherry-picked industry experts from across the globe – have really come together, pulled out all the stops and delivered above and beyond in the last 12 months. And it’s definitely an emotional moment to receive this shortlisting, which will always stand as recognition of my vision, my work ethos and my team’s efforts .”

Yasser and his hand-picked team of creative media mavericks launched his disruptive agency in 2011, with a mission to forever change the way media is delivered. Working with blue chip local and multinational companies, a.k.a. Media is a one-stop shop for film making and holistic media campaigns.

According to Nikhil Pereira, editor at regional publisher ITP’s Digital Studio Middle East magazine, the standard of entries was especially high – given the difficult year experienced by media production, broadcast and events industries.

“We were wholly expecting nominations would reflect the resilience of the industry despite the ‘tough year’ many have experienced. The record-shattering number of nominations and companies in the 17th Digital Studio Awards is testament to the buoyancy of the regional industry,” he said.

And the category winners are set to be announced in an Awards Ceremony at W Dubai – The Palm, on March 31, 2021.
