Middle East Fashion Week set to host Professor Jimmy Choo at their Inaugural Week in Dubai

Following the resounding success of their invitation only Gala Event in December 2021, Middle East Fashion Week is now set to host their inaugural fashion week from 26 – 30 March 2022 in the heart of eclectic Dubai.

The extravagant lineup of fashion events will take place over five exciting days in the very heart of the city at The Agenda, Dubai Media City. Among an impressive line up of regional and international designers, Dubai can look forward to a front row seat to The Atelier Couture by the legend and globally admired Professor Jimmy Choo OBE, who will kick off the programme in-person.

“After this long period of distance with the pandemic, we are finally able to meet again at MEFW! I am happy and proud to be part of the MEFW inaugural edition in Dubai after the spectacular Gala Dinner held last December. The feeling of hope and beauty is stronger than ever, and I can’t wait for all of you to discover The Atelier Couturecollection which we have created with the discerning clientele of the region  in mind. It will be showcased for the first time during MEFW.”, quotes Professor Choo with enthusiasm on his travel to Dubai for the occasion.

“We are honoured to bring to Dubai The Atelier Couture by Professor Jimmy Choo. Our sincere thanks to Professor Choo and CEO Mr. Yew. We look forward to receiving them in Dubai and to a collection that most certainly will elate our audiences”, says Simon J Lo Gatto, Founder and CEO of the Middle East Fashion Council.

The Fashion Week will kick off with a Gala Dinner co-hosted by the Better World Fund, a philanthropic organisation based in Paris. Followed by three days of fashion (accessible to the public through registrations), B2B showrooms for buyers and VIP clientele, MESFF talks and a surprise (on invitation only) experiential atelier. Guests will be able to enjoy the fashion lounge with refreshments between the various events. A luxurious VIP luncheon will be held on the final day of the event for VIP guests, from designers to industry leaders.

The Middle East Sustainable Fashion Forum

The Middle East Fashion Council was launched in 2020 with sustainability as its core value and long-term objective, with a deep commitment to be the platform of reference and drive change across the MENA and Indian Sub-continent region.

As part of the 5-day long programme, a Sustainable Fashion Forum will be held on March 27th, co-hosted by The Sustainable City, bringing together thought leaders and change makers in the industry. This first edition of the Middle East SFF will address fundamental issues driving partnerships for sustainable fashion.

Faris Saeed, Chairman of Diamond Developers, the developer of The Sustainable City, commented, “As part of our commitment at The Sustainable City, to lead the way towards a net zero carbon future, it is important for us to partner with organisations outside of real estate. The fashion industry holds the power to influence people around the world and by supporting the first Sustainable Fashion Forum, we hope to be the catalyst for worldwide change in mindsets towards a fully sustainable way of life.”

Simon J Lo Gatto adds, “Our partnership with The Sustainable City signals a new era for the region, opening the dialogue to a much wider audience. It stands for our commitment to drive that change, sowing the seeds with our March event. We call on all industry professionals to join us.”

“For us at the MEFC, ‘sustainability’ is not a trend, neither is ‘inclusivity’. These are values ingrained and reflect in the multiculturalism of our teams and our eco-system with our choice of partners. We understand at a deep level the challenges, but also the huge opportunities that the UAE is leading the region with. Where better to drive this than the region’s fashion capital and global retail hub that is Dubai! ”adds Payal Kshatriya Cerri, Co-founder of MEFC, Chief Strategy Officer of MEFW and Founder of Dubai-born, Paris-based “Conscious Luxury” Business and Strategic Advisory, Sarayu Consulting.

As part of their mission, MEFC invites Middle East-based designers to apply to showcase their collections on the catwalk during the March programme. Two applicants will be carefully chosen on the basis of strict selection criteria and presented on the catwalk at no fee by the MEFC. Preference will be given to brands that have integrated sustainable practices in their creative process and business model.
