AJP Tour Abu Dhabi International Pro ready to raise the curtain on new jiu jitsu season

Abu Dhabi’s Jiu-Jitsu Arena will raise the curtain on a new sporting season on Saturday with the launch of the AJP Tour Abu Dhabi International Pro.

The tournament, which is organised by the UAEJJF in cooperation with AJP, will welcome hundreds of players from various clubs and academies across the UAE and the region, including a range of nationalities, skill levels, and age groups: from teens to adults, professionals to masters.

His Excellency Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice-Chairman of the UAEJJF, congratulated the Jiu-Jitsu community on the launch of the new season and highlighted the high registration levels in the championship as it reflects the growing international confidence in the Federation and AJP tournaments, he said.

“Beginning the new season with such a prestigious, inclusive championship will help our players – especially those who are members of the national team – to quickly adapt and improve the quality of their performance by competing with the best players and talents at an international level,” said Al Dhaheri.

The tournament will be held on February 12 and 13, starting on Saturday with teens, youth, and masters’ competitions, while adults and professionals compete the following day.

Tareq Al Bahri, general manager at Abu Dhabi Jiu Jitsu Pro (AJP), added: “The championship represents an important step for the players, as it provides winners with 600 ranking points, securing a solid start for those who aim for the podium at the end of the season.

Mohammed Al Awlaki, of Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club, expressed his happiness to be competing on the map again. “I’m really looking forward to the current season and am aiming to help my club gain the appreciation and recognition it deserves. I can’t wait to get started this weekend.”
