Underlining the prominence of Saudi Arabia’s maritime logistics sector in the region and beyond, companies from the Kingdom have received a number of top accolades at the Maritime Standard Awards 2021. The Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) and Bahri were presented with a total of five awards during the Annual Maritime Standard Awards Gala Dinner, which was hosted at Dubai World Trade Centre in the UAE on Monday, 22 November 2021.
Now celebrating its eighth edition, the glittering awards ceremony was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group.
The President of MAWANI, His Excellency Omar bin Talal Hariri, received the Maritime Standard Excellence Award in recognition of his remarkable contribution to the growth and development of Saudi Arabia’s seaports and maritime logistics sector. His colleague Mr. Musaad AlDriss, Vice President at Mawani, was the proud recipient of the coveted Maritime Standard Lifetime Achievement Award, reflecting his tireless dedication to the shipping and maritime industries throughout his distinguished career.
Meanwhile, Bahri, a global leader in logistics and transportation, took home three awards in recognition of its efforts to empower and advance the maritime sector both locally and around the world. The company triumphed in the Tanker Operator of the Year, Shipping Company of the Year, and Ship Manager of the Year categories.
Recognized as one of the Middle East’s premiere shipping and maritime awards events, the Maritime Standard Awards attracts the region’s key decision-makers including chairmen, senior executives and directors from leading shipping companies, ports, terminal operators and maritime organizations.
