Popular Saudi racing game revs-up to one million downloads from HUAWEI AppGallery in just six months

Saudi Arabia-based UMX Studio has reported one million downloads of King of Steering, its flagship mobile game, since its release on HUAWEI AppGallery just six months ago. This marks the first time that UMX Studio has made one of its games available on HUAWEI AppGallery, the default application marketplace for Huawei devices.

“We consider our decision to release our popular game app on HUAWEI AppGallery as a case-study in audience acquisition,” said Samaher Alsaeed, Marketing & Sales Director, UMX Studio. “With more than one million downloads since we launched it in January and with increasing levels of user engagement, we can confidently say that joining the Huawei Mobile Services ecosystem has definitely been a success and an added value to both King of Steering and Huawei device fans.”

UMX Studio used HMS Core, the development environment for Huawei smart devices, to port King of Steering to HUAWEI AppGallery. This made the process quick and efficient, and enabled the secure and seamless implementation of features such as secure sign-in, in-app payments and downloads, advert placement, and alerts to users.

The developer also opted to integrate King of Steering with the HUAWEI Ads Kit, a powerful monetization tool that enables developers to incorporate advertising into their apps.

“The decision to integrate our game with the HUAWEI Ads Kit opened up a whole new opportunity for us,” said Samaher Alsaeed. “The tools enable us to include advertising spaces in our apps without negatively impacting their look and feel. There is strong advertiser demand for the service. This is a new monetization opportunity for us as app owners, without the huge overhead of having to manage the process ourselves.”

UMX Studio is committed to releasing all of its three games on HUAWEI AppGallery and integrating them with the HUAWEI Ads Kit. The developer will continue to work with Huawei to acquire new users, increase engagement, and grow the average revenue per user (ARPU).

“We look forward to continuing to grow our user base, as many more racing enthusiasts discover our apps, build loyalty, and spend more time on them. With the growing base of Huawei device users, we believe that the outlook for our games with Huawei Mobile Services is very positive,” said Samaher Alsaeed.

As part of Huawei’s efforts to build a pool of qualified, experienced software and app developers, and to enable technology-based transformation around the world, the tech giant recently launched the 2021 edition of the Huawei HMS App Innovation Contest (Apps UP), a worldwide contest for mobile app developers. Competing for US$200,000 in the MEA region alone, competitors will receive support, training, and multiple workshops to create seamless, smart, and innovative applications.

Awards for the HMS App Innovation Contest will be across eight categories including Best App, Best Game, Best Social Impact App, Excellent Student Award, Honorable Mention, Tech Women’s Award, Best HMS Core Innovation Award, and All-Scenario Coverage Award.
