Chegg Global Student Survey 2025: 89% of Saudi Arabian Undergraduates Have Used GenAI for their Studies – but Accuracy Remains a Top Concern

Chegg’s 2025 Global Student Survey found that nearly 9 in 10 Saudi Arabian students surveyed (89%) say they have used GenAI to support their university studies, the third highest percentage of all countries surveyed (after Indonesia, 95%, and Malaysia, 90%). 58% of Saudi Arabian students say that “academic tasks” best describes how they use GenAI – the top answer among those questioned. But 42% of Saudi Arabian students surveyed who have used GenAI for studying said that they were concerned about “receiving incorrect or inaccurate information” when using GenAI tools that are not built specifically to support university studies.

The Global Student Survey 2025 findings are based on in-depth opinion polling conducted by Yonder Consulting of 11,706 undergraduate students aged 18-21 years across 15 countries, including 500 in Saudi Arabia. The first Global Student Survey was published in February 2021, with subsequent editions published in April 2022 and November 2023.

To assist their learning, 44% of Saudi Arabian students surveyed would like to see the creation of GenAI tools that are specifically designed for education purposes. Almost 9 out of 10 Saudi Arabian students surveyed (88%) agree that their college/university should provide them with GenAI tools to support their university studies – the highest percentage of any country polled. 84% of Saudi Arabian students surveyed think that their teachers/professors know how to teach effectively online – the highest percentage of any country in the survey, a sharp increase from 67% who said so in 2023.

Saudi students increasingly put a high value on the education they receive. 91% of Saudi Arabian students surveyed agree that their university education is good value for money – the highest percentage of any country in the survey, and an increase from 79% who said so in 2023. Just 2% disagreed. 92% of Saudi Arabian students surveyed agree that their education is preparing them well for the job market – the highest percentage of any country in the survey, and an increase from 81% who said so in 2023.

In terms of mental health among the student population there were encouraging improvements, with less than a third (28%) of Saudi Arabian students surveyed saying they had experienced daily feelings of anxiety – a decline from 44% who said so in 2023, and the joint lowest percentage of all countries in the survey (alongside Malaysia).

The survey also revealed that Saudi Arabian students have a very positive and optimistic outlook about life in general. 90% of Saudi Arabian students surveyed agree that they feel hopeful about their finances in the future – the third highest percentage of all countries in the survey (after Kenya, 91%, and South Africa, 90%), and an increase from 80% who said so in 2023. 92% of Saudi Arabian students surveyed believe that they will own their own home before they are 35 years old – the third highest percentage of all countries polled (after Kenya, 95%, and South Africa, 93%).

While 91% of Saudi Arabian students surveyed agree that in general, all things considered, they feel happy – the highest percentage of any country in the survey, and an increase from 81% who said so in 2023. 91% of Saudi Arabian students surveyed agree that their country is a good place to live – the second highest percentage of any country in the survey (after Australia, 91%), and an increase from 85% who said so in 2023.
