Saudi Esports Federation to host 16th edition of IESF World Esports Championship in Riyadh

The Saudi Esports Federation (SEF) will host the 16th edition of the IESF (International Esports Federation) World Esports Championship in Riyadh from November 11-19.

More than 50 countries will participate in the IESF World Esports Championship 2024, which is being held at the SEF Arena at Boulevard Riyadh City, with nations from across the globe battling it out across six elite tournaments. These are: Counter-Strike 2 (one open and one women’s category tournament), Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (one open and one women’s category tournament), PUBG Mobile, and Dota 2.

A total of more than 200 matches will be played at the WEC24, with over 480 esports athletes primed for another milestone international event in Saudi Arabia.

Abdullah Al Nasser, Head of Esports at the Saudi Esports Federation, said: “Hosting the IESF World Esports Championship 2024 in Riyadh is another proud accolade for the Saudi Esports Federation in the Kingdom’s gaming and esports journey to becoming a global hub for the industry. We are delighted to welcome all athletes and countries to the WEC24 ahead of what is going to be a fascinating and intense competition.”

The opening ceremony of the World Esports Championship 2024 (WEC24) will take place on the main stage of the SEF Arena on Monday, November 11. The ceremony will feature the grand announcement of participating teams, accompanied by a flag ceremony showcasing the flags of the competing countries on a large screen.

In addition, we will take a journey through the history of the championship, with highlights featuring moments from the past editions of the World Esports Championship, celebrating the triumphs, rivalries, and milestones that have defined the tournament’s legacy.
