Saudi Arabia has made history by successfully hosting its first-ever K-POP World Festival on August 3rd at the warehouse in the JAX district Cultural and Art zone in Riyadh. This landmark event, organized by LG Electronics, brought together K-POP enthusiasts from across the nation, showcasing a vibrant cultural exchange between Saudi Arabia and South Korea.
The festival featured 30 teams from across Saudi Arabia, with the top 10 teams that passed the preliminaries competing fiercely for the coveted title. The honor of victory went to the Saudi female trio dance group, Team Everlast, who captivated the audience with their dynamic performance and undeniable talent.
“Hosting the K-POP World Festival in Saudi Arabia is a testament to the growing cultural ties between our nation and South Korea,” said Jungho Kim, Managing Director of LG Saudi Arabia. “This event was more than a competition; it was a celebration of cultural unity and mutual appreciation.”
The Saudi audience filled the seats and aisles of the warehouse, cheering and applauding enthusiastically at the start of each performance, showcasing their passion for Korean K-POP. Notably, even those who couldn’t enter the venue created a colorful scene outside, dressed in traditional attire such as hijabs and abayas, joyfully singing and dancing to Korean songs. This display of enthusiasm highlighted the deep cultural connection and appreciation for K-POP in Saudi Arabia.
Competition winners were awarded an array of LG products, including the XBOOM speaker, CineBeam Q projector, and the LG InstaView Refrigerator. These prizes underscore LG’s commitment to rewarding talent and fostering technological advancement. Additionally, there was a booth showcasing these innovative LG products, giving attendees a chance to experience the cutting-edge technology firsthand.
This event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Culture of Saudi Arabia, The Saudi Entertainment Academy (SEA), and LG Electronics. This partnership underscores the deepening cultural and diplomatic ties between our two nations.
