E.ON Next Veloce Racing topped the timesheets in Free Practice for the 2024 Hydro X Prix, the curtain raiser event for Extreme E Season 4 Round 3 and 4 taking place in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, this weekend (13-14 July).
The second consecutive year of racing at the epic Glenmuckloch coal mine site kicked off earlier today, with Round 3 and 4 of the championship set to get underway tomorrow in Scotland.
The British team topped the overall leaderboard, with drivers Kevin Hansen and Molly Taylor quickest out the blocks to set an impressive fastest time of 8:58.59 mins, ahead of SUN Minimeal Team and Andretti Altawkilat Extreme E as the eight teams took to the picturesque course based in Dumfries and Galloway.
Despite being the fastest in FP2, NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team suffered penalties which saw them drop down to fourth overall.
Extreme E’s spectacular return to racing action can be viewed on ITV3 in the UK, with both Grand Finals live from 1500-1700 BST, over both Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 July. Outside of the UK, please visit here for broadcaster details.
Molly Taylor, E.ON Next Veloce Racing, said: “I’m excited to be racing in Scotland this week, we have some happy memories from the Hydro X Prix in Season 3. So, it’s great to be back again this year and hopefully we’ll be on the podium again. The opening rounds of this season were really positive for us as a team, so we’ll be looking to repeat that form at the upcoming races and continue to push forward in the championship.
“The Hydro X Prix is a home race for us with the Veloce offices, and a lot of the team, based in the UK, so we really want to make it a special occasion.”
Timo Scheider, SUN Minimeal Team, said: “We have used the past weeks and months to completely check the car and analyse in minute detail why our performance in Jeddah was not satisfactory. And I’m very happy that this analysis has also brought some interesting findings to light, which makes me very optimistic for the second race weekend in Scotland.
“I think that the terrain at the Hydro X Prix should suit both Klara and me well. I finished on the podium there last year, so I have good memories of Glenmuckloch.”
