FG Series will partner with Schaeffler to help create more affordable racing

FG Series has partnered with the Motion Technology Company Schaeffler ahead of the championship’s launch in 2025.  Schaeffler have been a fixture on the international motorsport scene for decades and their wide-ranging participation has cemented them as a global player in the field of mobility worldwide.

They are involved in numerous areas of motorsport. From the successful history as a pioneer and World Champion in FIA Formula E, to the Formula 1 Academy with Carrie Schreiner, to Formula Student. FG Series will now join their prestigious list of motorsport partners.

Schaeffler distinguishes itself from worldwide competition through innovation, agility, and efficiency, and the company puts these strengths to good use in motorsport. Their commitment to motorsports has helped their partners to achieve new record times, victories, and titles which make them the perfect partner to help evolve FG Series’ all-electric racing technology.

Reducing financial barriers to entry to motorsport is a key ethos for FG Series as the new championship is on a mission to make the sport more accessible and present globally. Schaeffler will supply e-mobility components like inverters and e-motors including software to make professional racing more affordable.

Talent development is also a passion for both Schaeffler and FG Series which is why the partners explore opportunities for talents to intern with the championship to increase their skills and confidence in a practical setting.

Both parties share the ambition to bring motorsport to all corners of the globe whilst lowering the barrier to entry which is why this partnership is a great match. Their years of experience within automotive manufacturing will help FG Series have a clear road map to introduce further technology into the race car which will provide better racing and entertainment.

This announcement comes shortly after the groundbreaking electric series revealed its race car to the world, the FG-Twin, created by automotive designer and futurist Daniel Simon. He worked closely with founders Dilbagh Gill and Nick Heidfeld to ensure the car will be a torchbearer for championing electric and accessible motorsport, two key elements in the FG Series ethos.

Matthias Zink, CEO Automotive Technologies at Schaeffer, said: “Motorsport is part of Schaeffler’s DNA. And electrified powertrains have been part of our core business since 2018. The merger with Vitesco will enable us to further expand our software and electronics expertise in the powertrain. The insights that we gain in motorsport are always applied in research and development for series production. And these findings are increasingly being channelled back again. We are proud to supply the FG Series with our e-mobility components, thereby reducing the financial entry barriers for talented drivers. In general, affordable e-mobility is key for a successful green transition.”

Dilbagh Gill, Founder and CEO of FG Series, said: “Having Schaeffler onboard is exciting because with our combined experience we know we will have a very strong technical package. They have achieved a lot in other motorsport series – most notably becoming Formula E World Championship winning technical providers. We are happy that their experience in electric racing will aid us in our sustainable car development over the coming years.”

Updates regarding development, drivers, teams, and partners will be announced in the coming months. Please visit the FG Series website for more details.
