Lexus The Most Reliable Car According to JD Power’s 2024 Ranking

JD Power has released its 2024 study results on vehicle dependability in the United States. Lexus has emerged as the top-ranked brand in luxury brand loyalty for 2024, according to the study conducted in the field of survey evaluations and test drives. Lexus was classified as the least faulty car among all other models participating in the study, based on responses from 30,595 original owners of 2021 models after three years of ownership. This underscores Lexus’s commitment to the quality and reliability of luxury cars it offers.

The study covered 184 specific problem areas across nine major vehicle categories. Among the key findings, issues with information and entertainment systems emerged as one of the most annoying for owners, along with increased annoyance from driver assistance system alerts.

Frank Hanley, JD Power’s Senior Director of Automotive Performance Measurement, stated, “We are witnessing increasing challenges in the automotive industry, which require continuous efforts to improve vehicle quality and long-term reliability. Consequently, we hope this report will assist automotive companies in enhancing the quality of their products and improving the long-term customer experience.”

Hanley emphasized that the automotive industry is experiencing a resurgence amid fierce competition, making it necessary to focus efforts on retaining and expanding loyal customer bases. Understanding the current vehicle owners’ perceptions enables automakers and suppliers to identify the reasons customers remain loyal to a particular vehicle model or brand. Despite significant variations across the automotive market, quality and reliability remain the most important factors when consumers consider purchasing a new car.

The J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) focuses on the issues faced by original owners of vehicles aged three years. The study results are widely used by manufacturers worldwide to assist them in designing and building better vehicles – which typically retain higher resale values – and by consumers to make more informed choices before making a purchase decision.
