BMW’s pioneering civilian protection vehicles shine at World Defense Summit 2024

Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors, the importer of BMW Group vehicles in Saudi Arabia, successfully showcased its advanced automotive solutions at the prestigious World Defense Show 2024, held between February 4 and 8 in Riyadh.

BMW’s participation in this high-profile event not only highlighted its latest advancements but was a strategic move to reinforce the brand’s position as a leading player in the field of civilian protection vehicles. Two bespoke cars were presented by Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors – the BMW 7 Series Protection and the BMW X5 Protection VR6 – along with four robust BMW Motorrad motorcycles, the R1250RT, R18, G310G, and CE-04 models.

Held under the patronage of HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the World Defense Show has established itself as a crucial juncture in the global military and security sector, attracting key figures including defense ministers, heads of corporations, and military authorities from across the GCC, the wider MENA region and the world.

As a vital platform for governments and industry leaders to shape the future of defence, the biennial event’s focus on defence interoperability across land, sea, air, security and satellite domains makes it the perfect stage for BMW to demonstrate its safety and innovation-focused automotive offerings.

BMW 7 Series Protection: Blending safety and performance

The BMW 7 Series Protection utilises the award-winning design of the standard 7 Series but elevates it to new heights with its unparalleled protection concept. Equipped with a potent 4.4-litre V8 engine, it generates 530 hp and 750 Nm of torque, providing not just safety but also exceptional driving dynamics. Accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in just 6.6 seconds, this vehicle offers an intelligent all-wheel-drive system and the latest BMW iDrive technology.

The BMW Protection Core, a novel approach to vehicular safety, forms a self-supporting protective cell, offering maximum protection against explosives and drone attacks, as well as agile handling in a risky situation. The car’s blend of discreet appearance, robust protection and dynamic performance sets a new standard among protected vehicles, while offering the same ride comfort and spaciousness as the regular 7 Series.

BMW X5 Protection VR6: Defining the future of armoured vehicles

The latest edition of the world’s best-selling protection vehicle, this Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) is an integrated protection concept, meeting stringent ballistic and blast resistance standards and an outstanding skillset as a single vehicle for at-risk individuals. Its model-specific armoured body and safety glass form a protective cell, with extended underbody armouring and additional roof armouring available as options. The V8 engine with 48V mild hybrid technology delivers 530 hp and 750 Nm of torque, ensuring both security and performance. The upgraded powertrain teams up with the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system and its bespoke chassis technology to enable flexible responses in an emergency situations.

The X5 Protection VR6’s inconspicuous appearance, combined with its advanced features, makes it an ideal choice for individuals seeking both protection and the trademark BMW driving experience.

The BMW Motorrad models, meanwhile, featured the R1250RT, a touring motorcycle perfect for long-distance riding; the R18 cruiser with the biggest boxer engine built by BMW; the G310G, a versatile and compact roadster designed for urban environments; and the innovative CE-04 electric scooter for practical and sustainable riding.
