ALULA MOMENTS ANNOUNCES HEGRA CANDLELIT CLASSICS, SWISS ORCHESTRA AND JAMES BLUNT CONCERTS, TICKETS ON SALE NOW

AlUla Moments has given live music lovers more reasons for excitement by announcing new dates and artists for its critically acclaimed concert series. Hegra Candlelit Classics Concert headed by renowned pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi, world-famous Swiss Orchestra and award-winning singer-songwriter James Blunt are all locked in for early 2024 – and tickets are on sale now.

“AlUla Moments is synonymous with presenting some of the very best musical talent for visitors and we’re thrilled that Ludovico Einaudi, the Swiss Orchestra and James Blunt are performing at AlUla,” said Rami AlMoallim, Vice President of Destination Management and Marketing at the Royal Commission for AlUla. “these artists are incredible additions to our star-studded concert series and all are renowned for their live performances. These concerts are sure to be big hits with all who will attend and we’re looking forward to several epic musical nights.”

Hegra Candlelit Classics Concert will be returning to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hegra on 18th January, in coincidence with Winter at Tantora Festival. The cherished candlelight concert, set in the archaeological heritage complex of Hegra’s Jabal AlBanat, combines the elegance of classical music with creative set design and the enchanting glow of candlelight. Just like the previous edition, the concert will feature a repertoire of live classical music performed by pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi alongside a talented mix of Saudi musicians, as candlelight illuminations create a magical and evocative environment on the magical backdrops of the well preserved tombs of Hegra.

Renowned pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi, embarked on a distinguished musical journey throughout his career. Trained at the Conservatory of Turin and Milan, he honed his craft under luminaries like Luciano Berio and Karlheinz Stockhausen. Einaudi’s breakthrough came with “Le Onde” (1996), followed by a series of influential albums blending classical and minimalist elements. His ambitious project “Seven Days Walking” and recent solo piano album “Underwater” showcase his ever-evolving artistry, earning him the prestigious Opus Klassik award in 2022.  Einaudi prominses to perform a magical night to his audience at Hegra Candlelit Classics.

The Swiss Orchestra will headline on 19th January during the flagship Winter at Tantora festival. Credited for igniting the Swiss symphonic renaissance and innovating the international music scene, the Swiss Orchestra has dazzled global audiences with renditions of famous Swiss composers and legendary figures including Beethoven and Mozart. The exciting, innovative concert programmes of the Swiss Orchestra aim to generate enthusiasm among a broad public for all kinds of orchestral music.

Led under the baton of Music Director Lena-Lisa Wüstendörfer, the group consists of many first-class instrumentalists and specialises in the classical and romantic genres. Live from Maraya, the state-of-the-art venue and centerpiece of AlUla’s vibrant arts and entertainment scene, a delightful evening and unprecedented experience awaits audience members with a treasure trove of outstanding music.

Next up at Maraya on 9th February is James Blunt. Renowned for hit singles such as ‘You’re Beautiful’, ‘Goodbye My Lover’, ‘Wisemen’, and ‘High’, the English musician has enjoyed a glittering career since rising to fame. His 2004 debut album ‘Back to Bedlam’ was the UK’s best-selling album of the 2000s and set the scene for his popularity ever since.

Known for his vocals and famous tracks across the pop rock, folk rock, and soft rock genres, James has amassed numerous accolades to date. Two Brit Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, and over 200 million record sales worldwide are a testament to his incredible talent, which has also seen him receive five GRAMMY Award nominations.

Blunt’s concert will take place during the opening weekend of AlUla Arts Festival. Running from 8th February to 2ndMarch, the AlUla Arts Festival will offer visitors curated arts experiences, bringing together exhibitions and encounters created by a diverse array of artistic talents in celebration of AlUla’s legacy as a cultural crossroads.

A firm favorite among visitors, the concert series perfectly complements the always-on AlUla Moments calendar of events. The next artists to headline the stage at Maraya will be Cheb Khaled and Diana Haddad, who are set to perform on Friday, 1st December 2023.

One of Raï music’s most influential artists, Cheb Khaled or ‘The King of Raï’  has enjoyed enormous commercial and critical success in a career spanning five decades, solidifying his legacy among the world’s best-known Arab singers with over 80 million album sales globally.

Lebanese artist Diana Haddad, the princess of Arab song, rose to fame through “Studio El Fan” and achieved a breakthrough with her 1996 album “Saken”. Renowned for hits like “Shater” and “Akhbar Helwa”, she has collaborated with a number of stars such as Aida El Menhali and Cheb Khaled, contributing to operettas and Arabic series themes. With a distinctive voice, Diana’s global concerts and numerous awards attest to her enduring impact on the Arab music scene.
