stc has been announced as the official digital enabler of this weekend’s Saudi Arabian Desert X-Prix – the world’s first ever Extreme E race.
The Kingdom’s leading telecommunications body will support the all-electric FIA-endorsed rally in ensuring uninterrupted digital coverage of the two-day event across Saturday’s qualifying races and Sunday’s final.
Extreme E is looking to guide the world on a new sporting journey where sustainability and modern solutions are at the heart of people’s lives.
this ethos is very much in line with the goals and ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030, the Quality of Life Program and both the Saudi Green Initiative and the Middle East Green Initiative, launched last week by Crown Prince, and how stc, the digital enabler, looks towards the future, as a sponsor for the Desert X-Prix, Extreme E.
Extreme E arrives in Saudi Arabia through a partnership with the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF), who are the Kingdom’s leading authority on motorsports.
It is through SAMF’s tireless work that Saudi Arabia has secured ten-year deals for the hosting of the Dakar Rally and Formula E’s Diriyah E-Prix.
The Federation were also pivotal in securing November’s debut Saudi Arabian Formula One Grand Prix, which will take place on the streets of Jeddah.
Prince Khalid Bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal is chairman of SAMF. He said: “We would like to thank stc for committing their sponsorship to this weekend’s debut Desert X-Prix. The racing taking place this Saturday and Sunday will be a landmark occasion, not only in motorsport, but in wider sport in general, in our world’s push for sustainability, and in Saudi Arabia’s quest to be more efficient under the goals and ambitions of both Saudi Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative.
To have stc at the heart of that in powering our digital communications ensures that we are in capable hands in pushing the action and the message of Extreme E across the globe.
Extreme E’s debut has been long-awaited but promises to offer a weekend of thrills – all of which can be watched live on both MBC Sports and KSA Sports.
The format of the event will see nine different dual-gender teams of two race behind the wheels of ODYSSEY 21s – an electric SUV designed to tackle five formidable environments, the first of which is the desert sands of AlUla.
